Vintage Ceramic Arts Studio Brown Mother Bear Single Salt or Pepper Shaker from Madison, Wisconsin WI Ceramic Arts Studio (Madison WI 1940-55) is well-known for its beautifully designed & decorated figurines of people & animals. This is the momma bear from a set of several designs that they called "Snuggles". The Snuggles had a larger piece and a smaller piece that "snuggled" together. This piece is the "Mother Bear" - no Baby Bear available, but it would be seated in the mother holding the baby in her lap. They were made by CAS in 1950 and were available in brown, black, or white. The Mother with 3 holes for salt is about 4-1/2 inches tall, 2-3/4 inches wide, & 3 inches front to back. Great mold & hand-painted detail of their faces, fur, and spines. Mother is ink-stamped on the bottom "Ceramic Arts Studio Madison, Wis" "(c)". Condition: Excellent vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing. Single shaker only. These arrived very quickly and were packaged very well. The condition was as good or better than the description and the price was fair for this item. I do feel the shipping cost is a little high, but honestly I can understand the extra work it takes to package and even then I'm sure there is some risk for breakage.
