Uranium Glass Ashtray: Fenton Custard Waterlily Large 8.5” Bowl Vintage 1970 EUC This listing is for one (1) Fenton Ashtray/Chip and Dip Dish in Uranium satin yellow custard glass. The bowl is 8.5" in diameter; the pattern on the outside is Fenton's Waterlily which is a remake of the Waterlily and Cattails from the 1920. The 1970s version does not have any Cattails; it's water lilies all the way around the outside. When people say, "they don't build them like they used to," they are talking about American craftsmanship such as this vintage piece of solid glass. They were sold as double purpose too. If you are throwing a party, the shape and size allowed multiple guests to use the same ashtray. If you were not a smoker, the same piece could also function as a chip and dip set where the chips are placed on the outside perimeter and the middle can hold the dip or a container with dip for easy clean up. I have also seen them used as the bottom to the large hurricane lamp shades. They fit perfectly over the middle section, and the middle will easily and safely hold most candles. The weight of this piece makes for a sturdy bottom for your lamp.
