Handmade Studio Art Pottery Bowls w/ Painted Fruit, Signed This listing is for a set of 2 hand painted studio art pottery bowls with an unknown mark. The high-quality handmade pottery bowls both have minor damage. Each bowl is decorated in a fruit motif, the white bowl depicting peaches, and the black bowl pears. The expertly crafted art pottery bowls stand about 3 1/8" tall on a 2 3/8” marked base with a 5 ¼” diameter mouth. The bowls weigh a little over 13 ounces each and have a liquid capacity of just under 20 ounces. Finished in a gloss glaze inside and out, the wheel-thrown bowls are smooth to the touch. The white peach bowl has a chip on the base as well as heavy crazing both inside and out. There is a small flake on the rim, a few pinpoint nicks, and light scratches. The black pear bowl has at least four (4) chips, three on the rim and one on the side, as well as a few pinpoint nicks. There is some significant crazing, notably less than the white bowl, but still present. While the quality art pottery bowls display nicely, they should not be used for food due to the damage and crazing. This set of two studio art pottery bowls was obtained at an auction of the Ackerman Family Collection of local studio art pottery. A great addition to any collection! Please visit my eBay store at The Other Man's Store to view additional studio art pottery pieces obtained at auctions and estate sales in the Philadelphia and Bucks County area. More pieces are being added daily. I do my best to accurately describe the condition of each piece offered for sale and to highlight any flaws or defects. Please rely on the photos for the most accurate representation of the item as what you see is what you will receive. The studio pottery pieces sold by The Other Man’s Store which may be used for food or drink are individually tested for lead and the results are shown in the listings. Vintage pieces often contain lead. Please make sure all studio pottery pieces, old or new, used for food or drink are tested for lead! According to the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA)… “Today many potters of traditional or ‘folk’ pottery have switched to non-lead glazes, but they may still be using old kilns that were once used for firing lead-containing glazes, unintentionally contaminating the “lead free” pottery with lead residues that remain in the kiln from past usage. Because the lead may not fuse into the non-lead glaze, it may contaminate food when the pottery is used with food.” Be Safe! All items are carefully packed to ensure that they arrive safely and in the same condition as described. I use only new packing material and boxes. Many items are double boxed. I pride myself on my packing ability as evidenced by the positive feedback received from my loyal customers.
